Our moldy child

Samuel pointed out a "rash" he had last week.  It was just about the size of a dime on Wednesday.  By Sunday it was the size of a half dollar, and there was another dime size spot next to it.  Yuck!  Turns out it is a fungus (there is now a 3rd spot.)  I'm not sure why I couldn't tell what it was, we've had this happen before.  Anyway, I thought this was a cute picture of when we were waiting to see the doctor.

Lego Workshop

The first Tuesday of each month is the free Lego Workshop.  So far we have been twice.  The 3 older kids get to make a free item.  It's about an hour wait, for a 10 minute workshop, but the kids enjoy it, so we'll keep going.  The item for September was a "back to school boy."  The item for October was Frankenstein. November is a turkey on a platter.

Can you feel the anticipation?

In my opinion the best part is the free piece of chocolate at Ghiradelli afterwards.

Space Derby

None of us has done a Space Derby before.  It was new in the cubscout troop too.  It was fun though.  I liked it, because Henry was able to actually make the rocket himself (except the engine), as opposed to the Pinewood derby, where Dad has too cut it out, put on the wheels, make sure it weighs the right amount, etc.

Cleaning the Rental

It's hard to see something you own, not taken care of.  It's even harder to see your "home" not taken care of.  Granted, it's not the biggest, fanciest home, but it served us well for 4 years (the longest we've lived anywhere.)  I haven't been in the house since we left 2 1/2 years ago.  Ben has been in it once.

The house wasn't ruined.  It wasn't like some of the horror stories you hear about.  It was just dirty, and smelled like cat pee.  We kept some of the deposit and I (and a friend) cleaned and did minor repairs for 24 hours.  It still has work that could be done, ie: more painting inside, paint the whole outside.  I'll probably head over again next week to do some more stuff if it doesn't rent out this weekend.
I'm wondering if they really thought we wouldn't notice that they chopped out a piece of chairrail and then put it back.  I'm still wondering why they chopped out a piece in the first place.
William was not the best helper...that's mulch he's gotten all over himself.

So tired

Yes, I am still alive...barely.  The house is a mess still.  However, the rental is spotless--almost.  Our renters moved out last Saturday and it was dirty.  It wasn't damaged, there weren't light fixtures missing, it was just dirty.  So I spent every day last week cleaning...I'll post pics sometime.  An old Tampa buddy helped.  A total of 24 hours of cleaning and general maintenance was done.  We are still looking for renters.

Yesterday I spent over 5 hours cleaning and organizing the garage.  It was still a mess from having moved in.

In between cleaning the other house and doing laundry, dishes, piano/clarinet lessons, etc.  I have been trying to get this house organized.  So far that is still a dream.

Now I have to go finish my YW lesson.
